In a fight between Basques and Asturians, the Basque Maite, daughter of a leader, is kidnapped by an Asturian, with the help of Charlemagne, promising to marry his daughter Ermengilda, with Charlemagne's ill brother. Ermengilda doesn't reach her destination, as Maite, who has escaped from the kidnapping of Ermengilda's father, takes her captive for revenge.
